Roy O. Young, Sr. – Obituary

Roy O. Young Sr. passed from this life on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. He fought a very brave and courageous battle with cancer. The family wants to acknowledge how very strong he was during this most difficult time.

Roy was originally from Florence, Ala., but had spent his last 3 to 4 years in Tennessee. He was a former employee for Lewis Electric Supply of Muscle Shoals and retired from IBEW 558 Electrical Union.

Roy loved the outdoors and nature. He also loved to travel and sharing all of his adventures with his family and friends. He was really creative, crafty, liked working with tools and could create anything that he imagined.

Roy was kindhearted and always the first to arrive at any crisis. He was a wonderful son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to all he met.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Loretto Memorial Chapel with Mickey Brackin officiating.

He is survived by 3 daughters; Stacey L. Young of Florence, Ala., Deanna Gray of Lawrenceville, Ga., Chelsea Young of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; One son, Chadd Ryan Young of Baltimore, Md.; Mother, Leigh Young Jackson of Florence, Ala.; two sisters, Joan Young Willis of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Ginger Young Millsaps of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; two brothers, John Young of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Richard “Ricky” Young of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; Special friend, Sandra Goolsby of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; four Grandchildren, Miranda Nichols, Tucker Nichols, Allison Young and Lyndsey Young; one Great-grandson, Sylas Young; Several Nieces and Nephews also survived.

Roy is preceded in death by his father, Foster Louis Young and Son, Roy O. Young Jr.

Roy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Loretto Memorial Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
