Roy Mitchell “Mickey” Aldy – Obituary

Roy Mitchell “Mickey” Aldy, 66, left this world Thursday evening June 15, 2017, at the North Mississippi Medical Center and by his faith and through His grace united with his Lord and Savior. He was born July 5, 1950 in Winfield Parish, Louisiana to Billy Ray and Agnes Cheek Aldy. Mickey was raised in Crowder, Mississippi. He attended Northwest Community College where he studied journalism. He served his country in the U. S. Army and spent 18 months in Vietnam. November 15, 1974, Mickey married the love of his life Catherine Chandler and they begin their family in Water Valley. While living there, he worked at Motts and later L. Hart, Inc. He had also served a short while is an alderman in Water Valley. He and his family moved to Tupelo and he and Dan Purnell formed R & D Marketing. Mickey loved music and playing golf, being a faithful husband and father, and loved being a Poppi, but even more, watching to Fox News. . He enjoyed pheasant hunting and always looked forward to his hunting trips to Geddes, South Dakota. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Mississippi State Bulldogs fan. Wherever he resided he was a faithful servant in his church. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, taught the Aldy Sunday School Class. Also at Harrisburg he was a member of the Faith Ministry, and sang in the sanctuary choir.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Aldy of Tupelo;; two daughters, Ashley Aldy Smith (Caleb “Sparky” Smith) of Tupelo and Alexandra Mim Aldy and fiancé (Forrest Floyd) of Memphis, Tennessee; son, Andrew Mitchell Aldy (Jess) of Tupelo; Mother, Agnes Cheek Aldy; two brothers, Mark Aldy of Batesville, Bill Aldy (Yvette) of Sardis; one sister, Carolyn Gowen (James) of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Hampton Smith, Easton Aldy Smith, Wyatt Aldy and Kennedy Claire Aldy.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, James Aldy and sister, Linda Aldy.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Services will at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Harrisburg Baptist Church with Rev. David Langerfield and Dr. Chuck Hampton officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the services.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Aldy Sunday School class at Harrisburg Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Music Ministry at Harrisburg Baptist Church, 4675 Cliff Gookin Blvd., Tupelo, Ms 38801, David Jeremiah Ministries, Keep Believing Ministries, Compassion Ministries, and World Vision.
