Mr. Roy Herman Ross, Age 85, passed away at his home with family present on July 17, 2012 after an extended illness.
He was born on January 4, 1927 in Springdale, PA to Frank and Ellen Ross. He served in the Navy for 2 years and worked for PPG Industries for nearly 50 years until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Olga Louise Ross, Two sons Gary Roy and Mark Randall Ross, his parents and three siblings, Josephine Kerr, James Ross and Robert Ross.
He is survived by his three children, Paula Ellen Ross of Florence and Husband Doug Gooch, Roy Eric Ross of Florence and Wife Wanda, Rebecca Jo Umphrey of Birmingham and Husband Steve.
Surviving siblings are Alberta Claypoole of Ormond Beach, FL, Donald Ross of Lower Burrell, PA and Glenn Ross of Belmont, PA.
He has seven loving grandchildren who will miss their “PAP” very much. Eric Ross and wife Jenilee, Justin Ross, Patrick Simmons, Kristin Simmons, Nicholas Ross, Ross Umphrey and Curran Umphrey. Many nieces, nephews and friends were also impacted by his sense of Strength, Humor, Compassion and Loving Hands.
Pall Bearers will be his 4 grandsons Eric Ross, Patrick Simmons, Nicholas Ross, Ross Umphrey, Son-in-Laws Doug Gooch and Steve Umphrey. Justin Ross will be serving as Honorary Pall Bearer.
Arrangements were made by Greenview Funeral Home. His children would like to thank them for their continued dedication to grieving families during difficult times. Visitation will be 11:00 – 12:00 on Friday July 20th at Greenview Funeral Home. Pastor David Doroh will officiate the service at noon in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow in Greenview Memorial Park Love Mausoleum.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Home Instead Caregivers, Alicia George, Janice Baskins and to Dr. Diana McCutheon for their care and support.
