Roy Hanna Profile Photo Roy Hanna, a native of Hornsby, was born April 24, 1948 in Dyer, TN.  His parents were the late Roy Raymond Hanna and Melba Hearn Hanna.

He lived in Hornsby from 1951 to 2003 and graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1966.  He attended UT Martin for two years and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in math education from UT Knoxville.  He also attended Louisiana State University from a National Science Foundation grant.

Roy taught at Greenville Junior High School in East Tennessee and, in 1971, returned to Hardeman County where he taught an additional 28 years.  He also taught calculus and algebra as an adjunct teacher for Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro for eight years.

He was a devoted Christian and taught adult Sunday School at Bolivar Methodist Church and was also member of Blackman Methodist Church near Murfreesboro.

He leaves his wife, Dianne Smith Hanna, whom he married on June 1, 1974; twin daughters, Loura Williams (Kyle) of Murfreesboro, and Sallie Stevens (Len) of Arrington; a son, Raymond Hanna (Jennifer) of Gallatin; his four grandchildren, Hanna Allen, Camden Williams, Ben Williams and Gavin Hanna.

He was a devoted and loving husband, wonderful father and proud grandfather.  He was well known for his wit and love of teaching.  He enjoyed hunting, wood working and, going to Tennessee Titan football games.

Memorials may be sent to Wyatt Cemetery at Hornsby or Bolivar Methodist Church.
