Roy Gene Howard

After 92 years of a life well-lived, Roy Gene Howard peacefully passed away December 5, 2024, at his home in Hazel Green, Alabama. Visitation will be at Hazel Green Funeral Home on December 10 at 10:00-12:00, followed by a graveside service at Huntsville Memory Gardens at 1:00, with James Howard officiating. Pallbearers will be members of Mr. Howard’s family.

Mr. Howard was born March 12, 1932, in New Market, Alabama to Melvin Elmer Howard and Josie Lucille Lanford Howard.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Lowell Howard; and his sisters Betty Joanne Roberts and Peggy Joyce Britton.  He was a veteran, a longtime farmer and employee of Thiokol, and an active member of the Primitive Baptist Church. He loved telling stories of the past, sharing his knowledge of the land, and attending family milestones with pride and joy.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Libbie Howard; three sons, Stanley Gene Howard (Sandra), Madison, Alabama; Jeffery Neal Howard (Fronda), Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Keith Scott Howard, Hazel Green, Alabama; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
