Roy Bottorff Roy Edward Bottorff, 83, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 17, 1938 in Arkansas to Henry Clay and Ida Mae Law Bottorff. He graduated high school in Marvel, AR and furthered his education receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Henderson State University and earned a Ph.D. from East Texas State University. He enlisted in the United States Navy on June 29, 1956 and attained the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, later transferring to the U.S. Army Reserves as Sergeant 1st Class. He married the former Doris Newcomb and for many years, he worked as an electrician for Weyerhaeuser Products. With a heart for community involvement, he built theatrical production sets for local school and helped in any way he could with church functions and projects. He was a member of the East Amory Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Roger Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Newcomb Bottorff of Aberdeen; his two daughters, Christina Bottorff Greer (Charles) of Hot Springs, AR and Jennifer Bottorff Clements (Ellis) of Amory; one sister, Helen Harper of Marvel, AR; 12 grandchildren, Alex Perkins (Paige), Cody Greer (Melinda), Alanis Turney, Korey Chaney, Emily Linder, Lauren Chaney, Corine Dahl, Josh Greer, Landon Oliver, Natalie Clements, Owen Clements, and Penelope Clements; 4 great grandchildren, Liam Greer, Katarina Turney, Lillianna Perkins, and Cynthia Greer; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Bottorff.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Bottorff, James Bottorff, Taylor Bottorff, Matthew Bottorff, Clay Norwood Larry Kuykendall, Steven Warren, and Jeremy Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Garren Bottorff, Noah Norwood, and all surviving Hornet Sparkies.

Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or to any charity of your choice.
