Roy E. Waldrop, 87, of Florence, passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012.
Mr. Waldrop worked for the Exxon Corporation and the City of Chicago before moving to Florence about ten years ago. He had been a resident of Merrill Gardens before moving to Mitchell-Hollingsworth.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific and participated in action against the enemy at Iwo Jima and the Volcano Islands. He later served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Entombment will be at a later date in the Alabama National Cemetery at Montevallo.
Mr. Waldrop was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents, Eugene and Inez Waldrop; and brothers, Joe and T.R. Waldrop.
