Roy Daniel Overton, age 49 of Tuscumbia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, in his home with his loving wife, Jamie, by his side, after a brief illness. His visitation will be on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Sam Russell officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Roy was a lifelong carpenter and a successful business owner in the Shoals area for over thirty years as the owner of Overton Garages. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. Roy was a great friend and proud father who loved his family. He enjoyed being Uncle Roy to all of his nieces and nephews and most of all, being PawPaw. He will be missed by so many for his kindness, giving heart and sense of humor. Roy was a member of the Alabama Licensed Homebuilders Association and of the Better Business Bureau. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Velma Overton; sisters, Roxie and Pat Overton; and his Uncle C.J. Overton.
Roy is survived by his wife, Jamie Wilson Overton; sons, Justin Daniel and Roy Tyler Overton and Drew Dylan Higdon; daughters, Haley Overton Keeton (Daniel) and Deven Elizabeth Higdon; and three grandchildren, Calise Delilah Higdon, Kennadie Lee Keeton and Riselynn Grace Overton.
Pallbearers will be Greg Smith, Eddie Morgan, Jason Wilson, Chris Glover, Miles Overton, and Drew Higdon. Honorary pallbearers will be Stevie Higgens, Alton Bordes, Mark (Pete) Gilley, and Brandon Stanfield.
