Mr. Roy “Butch” Prosser, III, age 78, husband of Lynda Faye Nichols Prosser, and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rick Points officiating. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 12:00 – 1:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on March 1, 1946, in Maury County, Butch was the son of the late Roy Wilkins Prosser, Jr. and the late Violet Adele Nall Prosser. He dedicated twenty years as a millwright at Union Carbide and was a member of their Bass Fishing Club. He later worked as a maintenance supervisor for Columbia Construction Company. Butch had a passion for fishing as well as various forms of hunting. He had a love of grilling in his grilling room, being with family, playing guitar, collecting guns, and Saturday shopping with his wife. He was a longtime member of Grace Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his wife, Lynda of sixty years, he is survived by his daughter, Kim Prosser Shelton of Dickson, grandchildren, Mason Storm (Paige) Shelton, Lola Sloane Shelton, and Jaxson Stone Shelton, and great grandchild, Peter Corbyn Shelton.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Prosser, and son in law, Robert Shelton.
Pallbearers will be Tim Slone, Austin Slone, David Nichols, Mason Shelton, Jerry Nichols, Hal Boaz, J.T. Brooks, and Lola Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will include Jaxson Shelton and James Nichols.
