Roy (Billy) Hines was born May 23, 1930 in Bethel Springs, TN the son of the late Andrew (Jack) Jackson and Eva Ballard Hines.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Parker in 1982. Mrs. Hines preceded him in death on April 19, 2004.
Mr. Hines was a graduate of Bethel Springs High School. He retired as an Electricians Mate Senior Chief in the United States Navy after 20 years of service. Following his retirement from military service, Mr. Hines spent 20 years working for Owens-Corning in Jackson, Tennessee. He was a family man who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mr. Hines also enjoyed traveling, especially taking trips with his family that were spontaneous in nature.
Mr. Hines departed this life on November 17, 2012 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 5 Months, 25 Days. He is survived by a son, Terrance Dean Hines and wife Sharon of Reston, VA; a step-son, Buster Rogers and wife Debbie of Memphis, TN; a step-daughter, Cindy Sample and husband Richard of Tulsa, OK; ten grandchildren: Brandy Michelle Hines, Crystal Leigh Hines, Sean Michael Hines, Jacqueline Mullen, Jonathan Coody, Jodi Jowers, Melanie Coday, Richie Sample, Amelia Cortez, and Matthew Rogers; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Hines and wife Oleda of Selmer, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hines was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Vonette Hines; a step-daughter, Mary Vales; a sister, Calis Ann Hines; and a brother, Andrew (Jack) Hines Jr.
