Rossia Tyra Turbyfill – Obituary

Rossia Tyra Turbyfill, 87, froom Vina, Ala., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the Red Bay Hospital. She was born in Franklin County to John Anderson and Lester Tyra. She was a member of Pilot Hill Baptist Church and devoted her life to taking care of her family.

Services will be Friday, Jan. 3, 11:00 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay with Bro. H. Akins officiating. Burial will be in Pilot Hill Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her son Tony Lee Turbyfill (Laurel) of Vina; Daughter-in-law, Brenda Turbyfill of Vina; three grandchildren, Elaine Haithcock (Jason) of Russellville, Cheston Turbyfill of New York and Lindsey Smith (Daniel) of Starkville; one great granddaughter, Aidan Haithcock; one brother, Mac Tyra of Zion, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Turbyfill; daughter, Sheila Turbyfill; son, Andy Turbyfill; two sisters, Juanita Neal and Gwen McClain; and one brother, Ora Lee Tyra.

Pallbearers will be John Holt, Jim Hester, Boo Wilson, Donnie Wilson, J.T. Miller and Joel Page. Honorary pallbearers will be Walton Nichols, Billy Ray Childers, Charles Neal and Pug Orrick.

Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday.

The family requests donations be made to the National Down Syndrome Society, 666 Broadway, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10012.
