Rosalie Hayes Roberts – Obituary

Mrs. Rosalie Hayes Roberts, 96, of Killen, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013, at home. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Greenview Funeral Home with the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clayton Willbanks officiating. Burial will follow in Tri Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Roberts was a former resident of Memphis and a member of Lee Heights Baptist Church. She was retired as a bookkeeper for International Harvester and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John W. and Paralee Hayes. When Rosalie was three months old her mother and sister, Stella Hayes died. At that time her sister, Mamie Hayes Briggs, began to care for her and Rosalie referred to her as her “mother.” Mrs. Briggs preceded her in death also, as well as her brothers, Johnny Hayes and Jessie Hayes; sisters, Lucille Sloan, Olean Dison, Bessie White and Annie Mae Nixon; half-brother, Reeder Hayes; and half-sisters, Julia Staggs and Virginia Reatherford.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her niece and caregiver, Nell Roberts, Killen, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Roberts, Charlie Roberts, Daniel Roberts, C. J. Roberts, Andrew Kerstiens and Nicholas Kerstiens.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Webb and the entire staff of Hospice of the Shoals, especially Lisa Chandler and Kay Ray, for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Roberts.
