Rosa Lee Cassell Patterson, age 95, of Tuscumbia passed away December 20, 2024 in Michigan. Visitation and services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Williams Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00am until 1:00pm, with services to follow at 1:00pm in the chapel with Jeff Cruse officiating. Burial will follow at Tuscumbia Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ronda (1959), husband, Lester (2011), and son-in-law, Donnie Oswalt (2021).
Rosa is survived by her son, Russell (Karla) of Shelby Twp, MI; son, Raven (Peggy) of Double Springs, AL; and daughter, Renee (late Donnie) Oswalt of Tuscumbia, AL. Grandchildren; Kimberly (David) Vaughn, Christopher (Chanda) Patterson, Michelle Garon, Jeffrey (Nicole) Patterson, Steven Patterson, Kari (Richard) Barch, Jessica (Valerie) Hawkins. Great-grandchildren; Megan Barch, Sydney Garon, Karsten Vaughn, Kaitlyn Garon, Charlotte Barch, Aiden Patterson, Layla Patterson, Mackenzie Patterson, Elowyn Barch, Grayson Patterson, Richard Barch and a baby girl (Gemma Hawkins) due in the spring of 2025. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Leona Fountain of Tuscumbia along with many nieces and nephews.
Rosa was born March 9, 1929, to William and Rosa Mary Cassell in Tennessee. She was 95 years, 9 months and 11 days old – living the longest time of anyone in her birth family. She married Lester Patterson January 22, 1948, in Iuka, MS and they had 4 children together. They lived in Tuscumbia, AL, Southfield and Flint, MI, Elkart, IN before returning to live in Lexington, AL in 1979. In 2022, Rosa moved back to Michigan to live with her son and daughter-in-law.
Rosa enjoyed gardening, sewing, working puzzles, and reading her Bible. She didn’t go to bed without saying “Call me if you need me”. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington, AL and attended Stoney Church in Washington, MI.
