Ronnie Wayne Hood, 79, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Riverview Hospital in Gadsden, Alabama, after a brave struggle with heart failure.

Ronnie worked in the steel industry and house construction. Known for his many mission trips with Carpenters for Christ, he was a long time member and deacon at Southside Baptist Church. He was also well-known in the racing world, where he built and fielded race cars for many drivers, most notably his number 19 race car. He is recognized in the Alabama Pioneer Hall of Fame at the Talladega Super Speedway Hall of Fame.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maron A’Lece Hood; his daughters, Rhonda Hood Hunt and Sandi Hood Roszell; his son, Ronnie Wayne Hood II; and their spouses; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Alabama and Texas; his two brothers and many precious kinfolks. He was welcomed in heaven by his parents and thirteen of his brothers and sisters.

Ronnie’s unwavering faith in Christ was known to many throughout North Alabama and even the world.

A graveside service will be Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.

There will be no visitation.
