Ronnie “Ron” Wilson NeSmith, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, TN, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 5, 1948 in Townley, AL, the youngest son of Jake and Dortha (Grace) NeSmith.

Ronnie is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as an E5 Sergeant First Class in the US Army’s 4th Battalion, 54th Infantry Regiment. Among various awards, the U.S. Army decorated Ronnie with the distinguished Purple Heart. In 1993 Ronnie was employed by James “Jim” E. Purvis, his lifelong friend, where he spent the next 30 years as a loyal salesman, for the seasoning company, A.C. Legg.

On behalf of the family: A special thank you to all of the Waynesboro nursing home staff for the kindness, loving care, and friendship so freely given to our father and support for our mother during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with funeral services following at 2:00 PM at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Guthrie Cemetery in Townley, AL.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his loving Father – Elbert “Jake” NeSmith; Mother – Dortha “Dot” Louise NeSmith; and Brother – Milford Franklin NeSmith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years LeAnne “Lee” Myers NeSmith; Daughter – Ronni “Meagan” (John Bryan) Kelley; Son – Michael Jacob NeSmith; and “Pop Pop” to two precious Granddaughters – Dottie and Mallie Kelley.
