RonnieRonnie “Ron” Keith Terry, 65, of Decatur passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born on February 19, 1948, in Decatur and raised in Courtland.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda Hargrove Terry; two daughters, Kristin Terry Black (Tab) of Athens and Kara Terry Huff (Jon) of Decatur; three grandchildren, Slaton Hargrove Black and Ella Katherine Black of Athens and Jackson Alexander Huff of Decatur; one sister, Corrine Terry Kimbrell (JP) of Dunwoody, Ga.; aunt, Peggy Cross Terry of Decatur; and a loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Orbin Terry and Edna Cross Terry; brother, Fred Lyndon Terry; and twin brother, Johnnie Tillman Terry.

Mr. Terry graduated from Decatur High School in 1966. He completed a degree in Industrial Management in 1970 at The University of Alabama with additionalwork towards an MBA. He served in the Army National Guard before beginning his career with Springs Industries in Fort Mill, South Carolina. In 1974, he returned to the family farm to partner with his brother for the next 31 years. He farmed until his retirement in 2010. He served on the Servico Gin Board of Directors until his death. Mr. Terry enjoyed Alabama football games and events, his grandchildren’s sports activities and school functions, time at the beach, deer hunting, and traveling.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at First United Methodist Church beginning at 1 p.m. Services will begin at 3 p.m. with graveside immediately following at Roselawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mitch Claborn, Amos Morris, Robert W. “Bobby” Greene, Joe Hargrove, Don McLemore, Gerry Parker, Eddie Rose and Taze Shepard.

The family would like to thank his caring and supportive doctors, nurses, and staff with the Huntsville Hospital Heart Center and CCUII unit at Huntsville Hospital.
