Ronnie Charles Russell, “The Cookie Man,” age 74, was released from his earthly pain and illness on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital surrounded by family, friends and loved ones.
Ronnie was born in Ripley, MS to the late Roy Reece Russell and Sarah Jean Rogers Russell. He grew up in Bolivar, TN and graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1968.
Ronnie was a route salesman for most of his life, traveling throughout West Tennessee, shining his light on all who met him. He had the funniest stories to tell, the biggest of hearts and touched many with his kind, loving, giving, and helpful nature, welcoming any and all to his home, often saying, “Remember now, you catch more flies with honey.” He was strong, brave, good, and wise to everyone who knew him. Most important to him was his family, for whom he gave his all, especially his grandchildren, who gave him life and the fight to keep going.
Now in heaven, Ronnie is doing all the things he loved that illness prevented him from these last few years. You can guarantee he’s got a campsite set up by the lake with a fishing pole in his hand. His precious son, Ronald “Kevin” Russell and beloved brother, Bobby Darrell Russell are on each side of him planning a hunting trip, scoring touchdowns, and dancing the night away to some good ol’ rock and roll or country music.
Ronnie is now an angel on the shoulders of those lives he’s touched including his wife of 41 years, Lizzie Lorene Russell; daughter, Laura Lynn Russell McCoy; two grandsons, Keanan Wayne Kinman and Brennan William McCoy all of Jackson, TN; brother, Roy Wayne Russell of Seymour, TN, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
SERVICES: A Graveside Service will be held on Ronnie’s birthday, Sunday August 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens with Bro. Randy Beals from Newhaven Baptist Church in Milan, TN, officiating, where Ronnie was a member. This is not a black-tie affair. It will be hot so come comfortable.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Russell, Rusty Russell, Eddie Spencer, Bro. Randy Beals, Jackson Beals and Mark Brasher.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and medical staff that have been there for him, taking care of him, and just giving him the company that he so much enjoyed.
