Ronnie Carvle Fowler passed away in his home in Jacksonville, Al. on May 23rd, 2024, after a long illness. He was born on January 21, 1954 to William D. (Bill) and Sarah Nell Ballard Fowler
of Anniston. Ronnie grew up with his siblings in Norwood Homes and at an early age found his
passion in sports. He had a God given talent in baseball and was a natural athlete. Throughout
his life, baseball and later softball was his joy. Through his talent and ability for the sport, he acquired the nickname “Dawg” and it stuck for life. Through sports, he made a name for himself,
and made countless friends in every walk of life. Ronnie later enjoyed Golf, living in the
country and loved his pets. He was a gentle soul with a huge heart and if he loved you, it was
unconditional.
In 2000, he met Donna Raven, and was loved by her and her children Alfredo (Al) and Alicia
(Sissy) Spence and husband Greg Spence. With that union, he became a grandfather and
great grandfather which he accepted with open arms.
Ronnie was preceded in death by both his parents, his brother Jimmy Fowler, and two sisters,
Bobbie Beasley and Judy Fowler. He is survived by his wife Donna, two brothers, William
Fowler (Billy), Donald Fowler (Blaine Kindt), brother-in-law Charles Beasley, two sisters,
Shirley Fowler Huffman and Bonnie Fowler Bassett (Jack) and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be graveside at the K.L. Brown Cemetery in Jacksonville on Thursday,
May 30th, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hope Lodge of Birmingham,
and Enhabit Home Health and Hospice of Anniston.
