Ronald W. Garland was born on May 15, 1942 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Robert William and Thelma Anita McGee Garland.

On October 7, 1983, he was united in marriage to Shelia Ingram Garland, who survives.

Mr. Garland honorably served his country in the United States Navy. During his time in the military, he was a Naval photographer and later served as a photographer for the Armed Forces Radio (AFR). He went on to work as an agent for John Hancock Mutual Funds. Garland lived in Memphis, Tennessee for 29 years before moving to Savannah. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and the Memphis Grizzlies.

Robert W. Garland departed this life on December 6, 2022 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 21 days.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shelia Garland of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Clersia Smith of Memphis, Tennessee; son, Ronald Garland of New York, New York; step daughters, Christina Long of Marion, Arkansas, Jennifer Dozier of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kimberly Jones of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Donna Loughter of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Maria Garland, Bailey Smith, and Cooper Smith; and 7 step grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
