Obituary of Ronald "Budgie" Hamilton Ronald N. “Budgie” Hamilton, age 88 of Jackson, passed away on May 5, 2024 at his home in Jackson.

Budgie was born on November 4, 1935 in Bemis, TN, the son of the late Henry and Lillian Holmes Hamilton. Budgie attended J. B. Young High School where he was voted Most Humorous. He was always quick witted and loved to make folks smile.

Budgie worked for the Bemis Cotton Mill as a supervisor until it closed. He then went to work for the Tennessee Department of Transportation where he retired in 2004. Budgie had a great love for Dixieland music, St. Louis Cardinals, Tennessee Football, and Lady Vols Basketball. He also found great joy in watching all the grandchildren play ball.

Budgie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Bemis where he served as a deacon. He loved his church family and was always willing to help in any capacity.

He always had a servant’s heart and will always be remembered for how he served others, never wanting to be recognized. His neighbors will also fondly remember his helpfulness.

In addition to his parents, Budgie was preceded in death by his siblings, Grady Hamilton (Thelma), Bernice Norvell (James), and Kenneth Hamilton (Oshanniar).

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy Perkins Hamilton; son, Kevin Hamilton (Cheryl); daughter, Terri Hamilton Johnsey (Richard); grandchildren, Drew Hamilton (Sarah), Megan Hamilton Flowers (Will), Brian Johnsey (Leah), Evan Johnsey (Jennie), and Eron Johnsey (Destiny); and his great grandchildren, Nora Jane Hamilton, Cara Johnsey, Dax Johnsey, Xander Johnsey, Jett Johnsey, and Greyson Johnsey.

Budgie Hamilton will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, love, and humor touched many lives. His spirit will live on through all the wonderful memories made over the years.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church Bemis, 116 Bemis Lane, Jackson. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 with Bro. John R. Gaters officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
