Ronald Malcolm “Fats” Rogers

Mr. Ronald Malcolm “Fats” Rogers of Hazel Green passed away on Tuesday while surrounded by his loving family. He was 77.

Ronald graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1966 and was then drafted by the U.S. Army where he served two years before being honorably discharged in 1968. After returning home, he was employed by Martin Stove, Stevens Oil Company, Southeastern Landscaping, and then retired from Tipton Heating and Cooling. He enjoyed working and being around others. He helped out at Brown Farms, mainly during strawberry season, until his health made it impossible for him to do so.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm & Dorothy Rogers; by his brother, Roy Glenn Rogers; by his daughter, Robin Nichole Rogers; by his granddaughter, Catherine Amelia Brook Rogers.

Surviving family members include his wife of 32 years, Ramona Rogers; his step-son, Mike Mewbourn (Nikkie); his son, Wade Rogers; his grandsons: Tanner Mewbourn, Easton Mewbourn, Zach Nierenberg; his great-granddaughter, Catherine Nierenberg; his great-grandson, Jettsyn Mewbourn.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5pm until 7pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Sunday at 2pm at the funeral home chapel with Brother Eddie Graves officiating. Burial will follow and will be in Taylor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Clint Simmons, Austin Mason, Daryl Quick, Randy Brown, Alex Rackard, and Garrett Whitworth. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Rankin and Noel Brown.
