Ronald Lee Williams “Ronnie,” son of the late Alonzo and Flora Williams, was born September 9, 1956, in Kenansville, N. C. On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, with his family by his side, Ronnie transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home.
Ronnie attended the Duplin County School System, graduating from James Kenan High School in 1974, in Warsaw, North Carolina. During his high school years, he played varsity football and was a member of the band. He was a drum major, and he would turn parade venues out with his high stepping, precision coordinated dance moves. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he received various meritorious awards and commendations and was honorably discharged in 1994 as a Staff Sergeant (SSG).
Ronnie met and married the love of his life, Mary, during a tour of duty in Germany. They celebrated forty-two years of marriage on March 18, 2023. The Lord added further blessings to this union with the birth of one son, Ronald Lee Williams, II.
At an early age, he became a member of Wilson Chapel Baptist Church in Turkey, North Carolina where he regularly attended and gained religious training during his youth.
Ronnie loved watching sports. He was an avid supporter of the North Carolina Tar Heels and the formally known, Washington Redskins. He was a selfless person who always gave of himself without expecting anything in return. He will be dearly missed by many and will forever hold a very special place in our hearts.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Larry Williams; mother and father in-law, Mary Richardson, and Porter Richardson; sister in-law, Catherine Richardson.
Loving memories will live in the hearts of his wife of the home, Mary Williams; son, Ronald Williams II (Candis) of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Sheree Williams of Montgomery, Alabama and Myra Williams of Huntsville, Alabama; grand-children, Tia, Ron III, Madison, Lennox, Leandre; sister, Ann Faison (Ellis) of Kenansville, North Carolina; brother, Thomas Williams (Lavonne) of Orange Park, Florida; one aunt, Thelma Frederick of Turkey, North Carolina; sister in-law, Earlean Richardson of Mobile, Alabama; brothers in-law, Richard Porter Richardson, Jr. and Robert Lee Richardson of Mobile, Alabama; several nieces, a nephew, other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Royal Chapel of Memories (4315 Oakwood Avenue NW, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Minister Britney Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Alabama National Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023, and 8:30 until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
