Ronald Lee Newlin, 83, rose to meet his heavenly Father at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 17, 1939, in Paoli, Indiana, to Lawrence Odell and Edna Lillian King Newlin. He was baptized to the Lord on November 25, 1953. He graduated from Charlestown High School in Indiana on May 25, 1959. It was there he met his life-long love, Betty Ann Baker. He had the good sense to marry her on August 28, 1960. Ronald was a military veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Army for two years, where he was an elite member of The 40th Armor Brigade, Company “F” in Germany. He was honorably discharged April 9, 1965. He was a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Services will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Kevin Clayton officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Newlin; their love and devotion, and their shared dedication to the Lord set a life-long example for their three sons, Tracy Allen Newlin (Debbie) of Panacea, FL, Spencer Odell Newlin (Cindy) of Valparaiso, IN, and Michael Wayne Newlin (Stacy) of Fulton; one brother, William “Buddy” Newlin of Hooks, TX; one sister, Rose Mary Page of Granger, IN; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his mother, Edna, in 1944; his father, Lawrence, in 1968; sister, Geneva Berniece, in 1990; and sister, Peggy Louise Sanders, in 2017.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until service time Thursday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home.
