Ronald Glen “Ronnie” Parkin, 65 of Dora, passed away on Dec. 18, 2022.
He was born July 10, 1957 to Willard Ernest and Jo Ann Parkin. In 1984, he married Virginia Ann Woods (Parkin) and raised three children, Melissa, Marie and Matthew.
He had a long career in the HVAC business as Chief Engineer for Jones Lang LaSalle. “Big Ron” as his church family called him, was a member of Empire church of God, where he could be found greeting members of the congregation on Sundays. He could also be found spending time with his grandchildren, helping a friend with a project, buying doughnuts for the kids at church or in the woods at Twin Creek Hunting Camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, “Sonny” and Jo Ann Parkin and his granddaughter, Hadley Marie Cook.
Survivors include his children, Melissa Lorino (Michael), Marie Cook (Blake) and Matt Parkin (Katie); grandchildren, Makayla, Makenzie, Makiyah, Brennen, Madilyn, Rhett and Allen; sister, Pam Kelley (Pat); nephews, Chris (Kristy) and Brian (Holly); several other relatives and many friends.
Graveside service and burial will be Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Cemetery 452 9th Ave. Pleasant Grove, AL 35217. Rev. Bruce LeVan will officiate. There is no public visitation. Everyone is invited to meet at the gravesite for services.
