Ronald David “Ronnie” Smith

Ronald David “Ronnie” Smith, 65, of New Market, gained his wings on July 3 with family and friends by his side after a short illness.  Ronnie was a gifted drywall man and had worked for Eddie Barbour for a number of years before beginning his own business, Smith Drywall.

Ronnie is preceeded in death by his wife who was the love of his life, Annette Whisenant Smith; his father, Joe Ed Smith; his mother, Clara Mills Smith; his paternal grandmother, Eliza Ann Smith.  His brothers: Ray smith, Jerry Smith, Arthur Smith; his sister Lola Elwanda Maples. Three brothers-in-law: Glenn Holder, Larry (Buddy) Hobbs, and Wayne Swinford.

Ronnie is survived by Sisters Lela Ann Holder, Faye Bankston, Carolyn Diane Swinford, Amanda Smith Hobbs. One brother, Phillip Smith. Best friends: Rex Stewart, Eddie Barbour, Jodi Sledge and best best friend, ladybug! Two special nieces who helped care for him in his final weeks: Dena Smith Liveoak and Tasha Hobbs. He is also survived by a slew of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 10AM until 12PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 12PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be in Concord Cemetery after the chapel service.
