Roger Wagoner, of Huntsville, AL, and formerly of Buckhannon, WV, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the age of 75. He was born September 9, 1948 in Patterson Creek WV to the late Lawrence H. and Edith Bazzle Wagoner. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Rexroad.
Roger pridefully grew up in WV, the mountains he so loved. He served in the United States Army for 2 years where he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. He was employed by CSX Railroad in WV prior to relocating to Alabama. While in Huntsville, he worked for Lowe’s for over 30 years earning several accolades and making many friends with both his coworkers and patrons. Roger never met a stranger and had a knack for making friends wherever he went with his sly sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
Roger is survived by his sons, Kurt (Nicole) Wagoner of Buckhannon WV, Scott Wagoner of Buckhannon WV, and daughter Mindi Wagoner-Principi of Mint Hill NC. He is also survived by his brother Donald (Geraldine) Wagoner of Huntsville, AL, two sisters: Ethel Dennison of Lexington Park, MD and Kay (Gerald) Arey of Buckhannon, WV. ; and four grandchildren: Dakota and Megyn Wagoner of Buckhannon, WV, Makenzie Wagoner of Buckhannon, WV and Ryan Principi of Mint Hill, NC.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to our Uncle Donnie, special friends Carol, Charles and Janet for the roles each of you played during Roger’s illness.
Per his wishes, Roger will be cremated with a small celebration of life to be held at a later date. If your heart feels inclined to honor him in any way, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Acknowledgements may be sent to the family through Berryhill Funeral Home.
