Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Roger “Mike” Young, age 70 of Decherd. Mr. Young passed away at his home in the evening hours of March 12, 2021. A native of New York, NY, he lived in many cities across the United States, eventually settling in San Diego, CA where he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. While in the Navy he primarily served as a submarine sonar technician. Having received numerous insignias, awards, medals and commendations, he retired after 24 years of service. Following his military service he joined the aerospace firm Lockheed-Martin where he worked in Internet Security, retiring from his second career in 2015. Following his retirement from Lockheed Martin, Mr. Young and his wife made their home in Middle Tennessee following his extensive research looking for a quiet and comfortable town in which to live. Mr. Young is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Charity Carol and his father, David Henry Young, Sr. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Young. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Michele Frank Young. Also surviving is a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Craig Yeomans of San Diego, CA., brother, David “Skip” Young of Camby, OR and brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Mone’ Young of Surprize, AZ. Following cremation, Mr. Young will be laid to rest at sea by the U. S. Navy. For those who desire to honor Mr. Young, it was his request that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Compassus.
