Roger Lee Eastep, age 81, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Elkins Funeral Home in Florence, AL, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00. Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Bro. Henry Melton officiating. The burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence, AL.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Hollins Woodrow and Sulie Dell Pierce Eastep and sister, Gerald Gene Boston.
He is survived by his sisters, Elaine Gable, Doris Schulz (Ken), Sandra James, Cathy Liles, Debbie Morey (John); brothers, Stevie Eastep (Venetta), Toby Eastep (Mary), Danny Eastep, and Ricky Eastep; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was a well-known hair stylist in the Shoals area. His career began as an apprentice cosmetologist when he was just 17. Eventually he started his own business, Rozhe’s Hair Salon, which he operated for over 60 years. He mentored dozens of stylists over the years and cultivated many friendships that lasted a lifetime. Roger was born February 28, 1943, in Rogersville, Alabama, and attended Lauderdale County High School. During high school, Roger served as the band’s drum major. He had a deep appreciation for music and also played the guitar. Roger served six years in the National Guard. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Eastep, Ricky Eastep, Danny Eastep, Toby Eastep, Eddie Murphee, and Alisa Balentine.
The family would like to thank Bro. Henry Melton and the staff and caregivers at Mitchell Hollingsworth and The Summit for their professionalism, compassion and dedication.
