Roger Howard Hamann Profile PhotoRoger Howard Hamann, age 81, of Franklin, TN found eternal peace on January 23, 2024.  Roger was born in Calamus, IA to Ralph and Marvel Hamann.   He grew up in the area and graduated from Calamus High School.   Roger served briefly in the US Army Reserve and had a long career at Alcoa in construction and as a machine operator.

Roger married the love of his life, Anne Bergthold McCabe, in his thirties.  After many years at Alcoa, Roger and Anne retired and moved to Tennessee.  They enjoyed having family around, hosting the kids and grandkids for barbecues.   Roger loved a good meal and had a talent for grilling burgers and pork chops.

Roger was a passionate classic car enthusiast and collector.  He loved tinkering with tools, sourcing that last elusive part and lovingly polishing the chrome finishes.  His favorite hobby reached its pinnacle just a few years ago with the completion of a top to bottom restoration of a beautiful ‘46 Ford Victoria.

Roger will be missed dearly but we’re comforted knowing he is with his loving wife in heaven.  God’s blessing be with his soul as he goes on and meets our Lord.  A memorial service will be held for Roger on Saturday, March 2nd at 10am at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Franklin, TN.  A burial service will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in McEwen, TN.

Those left to honor Roger’s memory include his three daughters, Jordy (Charlie) Daniels, Kelly (Jeff) Roehm, and Stacy (Eric) Travis; and children Eugene (Hillary) McCabe, Elizabeth (Michael) Kostolansky, Kathleen (Darrick) Douglas, and Eileen (Keith) Giger; along with 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Lois Matzen and Donna (Marty) Dosland.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Anne, and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Matzen.
