Roger E. Watson Sr., age 68 of Arab Alabama, died Thursday June 30, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Watson was born on February 7, 1948 in Bowling Green Kentucky, to Lester Watson and Docia Kilmon Watson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Production Manager under government contracts with DRS/Teledyne Brown in Huntsville Alabama. He and the former Martha Haley and been married for 49 years. Mr. Watson enjoyed golfing, riding motorcycles and was a huge fan of Kentucky Basketball. He and his family have lived in Arab for the past 28 years, moving here from Bowling Green Kentucky.
He was a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church and also a member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Martha Haley Watson; daughter and son-in-law: Misti Watson Welborn and Darren Welborn; son: Roger E. Watson Jr.; grandchildren: Ridge Watson, Lauren Watson, Anna Watson, D.J. Welborn and C.J. Welborn; brothers and sister-in-law: James and Peggy Watson and John Pickett. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lester and Docia Watson.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 3, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Jamey Pruitt and Greg Stone officiating. Burial will be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery. Arab heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Kent Gibbs, Edwin Cooley, Ron Hunt, Darryl Farmer, Mark Farmer and Terry Day.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday July 2, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
