Dr. Roger Dean Bailey of Pulaski, Tennessee passed away Thursday evening, April 4th, 2024 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems Pulaski. He was born in Loretto, TN on December 8th, 1953 and was 70 years old at the time of his death.
Roger was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Following an honorable discharge, he completed his pre-med studies at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee. Then in 1977 he moved to Davenport, Iowa to go to Palmer College of Chiropractic. He met his wife Dr. Lorraine Celentano Bailey at Palmer and they married in 1980, and then they graduated together in 1981 with their Doctor of Chiropractic degrees. There were a total of 9 chiropractors in their family, although several have now passed.
Drs. Roger & Lorraine Bailey had an office in Nashville from 1982 to 2000. When they decided to move to Pulaski, Dr. Roger joined his dad, Dr. L.E. Bailey (“Red”), in his practice. His mom Mary Helen Bailey was their front desk and therapy assistant. He practiced with them for a few years until he and his wife once again opened their own office in Pulaski about 20 years ago. They practiced together in Pulaski until 3 years ago when he retired for health reasons. Dr. Lorraine is still in practice there on West College Street in Pulaski.
In addition to Chiropractic, Dr. Bailey was also trained and certified in the Eastern healing arts of Acupuncture and Medical Qigong. He comes from a long line of farmers and always had a passion for cooking and eating well. Dr. Bailey was also a Master Gardener, studied Permaculture, and had his own organic garden. He participated in several running events, triathlons, Senior Olympics, and taught Chi Running.
While in Nashville, he was active in Judson Baptist Church and then a deacon at Christ Community Church in Franklin. In Pulaski, he was a deacon and in the choir at First Baptist Church.
Dr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. L. E. Bailey and Mary Helen Baker Bailey, and his youngest brother Russell Bailey (Darlene Bailey). He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dr. Lorraine C. Bailey of Pulaski, Tennessee; their son, Nathan L. Bailey (and Kelly Bailey) of Smyrna, Tennessee; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bailey (and Ty Fields) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; son, Jonathan D. Bailey, DPT (and Courtney Bailey), of Dawsonville, Georgia; his brother Larry Bailey, DC (and Marilyn Bailey) of Smyrna, Tennessee; sister Phyllis Bost (and Jerry Bost) of Pulaski, Tennessee; sister, Tammy Haney (and C. Doug Haney, MD) of Pulaski, Tennessee; four grandchildren and many nieces, and nephews also survive.
