Roger Dale Hopper age 68 passed away March 8, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born February 8, 1949 in Jackson and grew up in the Rocky Springs Community, the son of the late Robert and Ruth Burkhead Hopper. He graduated from South Side High School in 1968 and graduated from Tennessee Tech Vocational School at McKellar. He married Nancy Cothren in 1971 and they made their home in Henderson most of their married life.
He started working at the U.T. Experimental Center in Jackson, then Les Rankie Buick as a mechanic, followed by service manager at Good Year and then went to Rockwell, which became Porter Cable, where he worked as a mechanist and then maintenance technician when he retired.
He enjoyed hunting, raising horses and spending time with his family. He attended Faith Baptist Church.
Mr. Hopper is survived by his wife, Nancy Cothren Hopper of Henderson; two sons, Shane Hopper of Henderson and Blake Hopper and wife Christy of Seymour; a brother, Guy Wayne Hopper of Jackson; two half-brothers, James Earl Cupples of Henderson and Junior Cupples of Jackson and one half-sister, Geraldine Williams of Jackson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday March 12, 2017 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Tracey Snider and Dennis McMahan officiating. Burial will follow in Montezuma Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Saturday and beginning at 8:00 AM on Sunday.
