Roger D. Sons, age 76 of Estill Springs, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020 at his residence. He was born on November 2, 1943 in Bedford County to the late Edward and Maureen (Coffee) Sons. Before his retirement, Roger was employed as an ironworker at AEDC. He enjoyed fishing and horseback riding and was the Past-President of Estill Springs Saddle Club. Roger was a forty-two year member of Estill Springs Masonic Lodge #561 F&AM where he was a seven time Past Master and Proficiency Card Holder, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Leanne Sons. Roger is survived by his loving daughters, Kalene (Doug) Hankins of Tracy City, and Kimberly (Michael) Henderson of Ladson, South Carolina; grandchildren, Shanda Hankins, Tanner Hankins, Tyler Hankins, Jessalyn Hankins, Jasmine Earp, and Aliah Lance; sister, Darlene Faulk of Murfreesboro; nephew, Devon Faulk of Murfreesboro; and niece, Leasa Faulk of Georgia. Private Family Services are planned with burial at Franklin Memorial Gardens. The register book and memorial cards will be available under the carport of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home from 1-2:30 pm on Friday, April 17, 2020. An attendant will be available to assist you.
