Roger "Big Daddy" Marcum Profile PhotoRoger “Big Daddy” Marcum, a beloved retired truck driver for Howell & Sons and Dorris Logging, passed away on June 22, 2024, in Bolivar, Tennessee. He was born on March 18, 1951, in Middleton, Tennessee, son of the late James L. and Helen Sybill Doyle Marcum.

Roger was known for his warm personality – he loved to joke around and never met a stranger. Always busy working on things, he found joy in his family and took great pride in his grandchildren. He was raised part of his life as church of Christ, attending New Hope church of Christ, and part Baptist, attending Hebron Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children: Jennifer Marcum Richardson & Roger of Jackson, Carrie Marcum of Saulsbury, Chris Marcum and Joseph Marcum of Middleton; his sister, Donna Benard of Brownsville; and his brother, James “Butch” Marcum & Marilyn of Middleton. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren: Nichols Boone, Elizabeth McGaha, Desta, Tyler, Waylon, Carter, and Knox Marcum & Newt Thigpen and six great grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by his father James L. Marcum and mother Helen Sybill Doyle Marcum.

During this time of mourning, let us remember Roger for the laughter he brought into the lives of others and the love he shared with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. No Public Services for Mr. Marcum Will Be Held. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in his name be made to the American Heart Association.
