Roger Allen Peterson, 90, of Fort Payne, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his home. He was born November 12, 1933 in Indiana to the late Clarence and Ethel Peterson. He served in the United States Navy and was a carpenter by trade. Mr. Peterson was a faithful church member throughout his life and after moving to Fort Payne, he served at Second Baptist Church. For many years, he faithfully served with Navigators, an international Christian ministry which focused on sharing the love of God and the gospel with everyone he met, as well as serving on various mission trips until health prevented him from continuing.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Arlene Peterson; daughter Melinda Hurley (Jody); daughter-in-law Deborah Peterson; sister Corrine Peterson; grandchildren Jared Hurley (Stephanie), Joanna Blalock (Luke), Nathan Hurley (Abby), and Sarah Grace Hurley; and great-grandchildren Hunter, Haven, Hayes, Lucy, and David
He was preceded in death by his son Roger Peterson, Jr., two infant sons, and brothers Warren, Sheldon, and Donald Peterson.
