Roger Alan Marti (65) of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on September 2nd, 2023, after a weeklong fight in the hospital with Congestive Heart Failure.

Roger was born on January 21, 1958, to Dale and Janet Marti in Boise, Idaho. He graduated from Boise High School in 1976. Soon after high school Roger went on a mission to Japan for the LDS Church, where he “fell in love” with the Japanese people and their culture.

In 1987, Roger moved to Roseburg, Oregon to sell cars for Wheels West, where he met his first wife Vickie Polley. They were married November 6, 1989, and in March of 1990 they were blessed with their daughter Chelsea.

Roger and family moved to the Portland area in the early 90’s where he had a successful Sales and Sales Management career. While Vickie and Roger divorced in 2000, they did a great job of co-parenting and giving Chelsea a wonderful childhood where they continued to share and spend holidays and vacations together.

In 2010 Roger made the decision to go back to school at Portland State University. Roger graduated with his bachelor’s degree, Summa Cum Laude in 2013 and went to work for Boeing in Seattle, WA. In 2018 he transferred with Boeing to Huntsville, AL, to be closer to his daughter Chelsea and her two kids, Brody and Audrey, and resided there until his passing.

Roger loved to hike. Through his love for hiking, he met Helen Martin. They started dating in 2012 and then in 2016 Roger and Helen married in the city of New Orleans. Some close family members were able to celebrate through the traditional Mardi Gras fashion of wearing masks and dancing in the streets. Roger loved to hang out with family and friends and spend quality time catching up and playing board and card games. He had a love for music and attended live music venues whenever he could. He was always ready for an adventure.

Roger suffered for many years with the disease of addiction. He enjoyed 17 years of sobriety in the Portland area and Seattle; however, in the end it would take his life.

Roger is preceded in death by his mother Janet Walin and father Dale Marti. He is survived by his three sibling’s, sister Vicki Marti and brothers Craig Marti and Joe Marti all of Boise, ID; his daughter Chelsea Kopeikin and her husband Paul; his grandchildren Brody (8) and Audrey (4) all of Lawrenceville, GA; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A Memorial will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6032 N Five Mile Rd, Boise, Idaho 83713 (corner of Five Mile and Chinden) on October 3RD, 2023 from 6:30PM to 8:00PM. A memory table and social gathering will start at 6:30, Life Sketch and reading of the Obituary will begin at 7:00, followed by open sharing and music by Paul Kopeikin.
