Rodney Russell, 58, beloved husband, father and brother, passed away January 11, 2024, at home in Tupelo. Born to Charles Russell and Janice Gillis, he was raised in the MS Delta, served in both the US Marine Corps and US Army, before returning to the Benoit farming community for 27 years. He enjoyed his family, his dogs and helping others. He never met a stranger, was quick to get a laugh and it was always said that he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it more than he did.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 39 years, Melanie Russell; son, Perry Russell (Aimee), Jonah, Jadyn of Colorado Springs; brother, Charles (Renee) Russell of Saltillo; niece, Rachelle (Hayden) Lamb, and nephews Justin Russell, Alexander Lamb; father- and mother-in-law Floyd and Cynthia; brothers-in-law Philip (Sharie) of Illinois, and Stephen of Arizona. He is also survived by his mother and sisters, Tina, Anita, Michelle, and several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4 PM Friday, January 19, 2024 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo. Visitation will be from 3 PM to service time. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
