Rodney Nacoste was born on January 31, 1959, in Opelousas, LA to the union of the late Junius Nacoste Sr. and Helen Bellard Nacoste, to which sixteen (16) children were born. He departed this earthly life in the comfort of his home on the morning of September 11, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Justina Allen Nacoste; four brothers, Junius Nacoste Jr., Louis Nacoste, Harry Nacoste and Dallas Nacoste; and one sister, Louise Nacoste Winfield.
Rodney graduated from Port Barre High School in Port Barre, LA and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. After he graduated college, he married his life-long love Justina in 1988 and soon after relocated to Athens, AL to assume an Engineering position at the Tennessee Valley Nuclear Plant where he retired after 30 years of service and remained until God called him Home.
While living here in Athens, Rodney attended the James Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Rodney had a love for fast cars, the New Orleans Saints and going to the beach.
He leaves to cherish and cling to loving memories his daughter Jasmine Angelle Tee Nacoste of Athens, AL; six brothers, Herman Nacoste of Church Point, LA, Doris Nacoste (Mae) of Honolulu, HI, Lawrence Nacoste and Jerry Nacoste (Ann) both of Chandler, AZ, Johnny Nacoste of Port Barre, LA and Otis Nacoste (Carol) of Prairieville, LA; four sisters Delores Nacoste of Augusta, GA, Virginia Nacoste of Baton Rouge, LA, Effie Mae Nacoste of Berlin, NJ, Maffie Ann Nacoste of Ashburn, VA; a godchild Nicholas Nacoste of Pearland, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and special friends.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the James Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (814 Lucas Street, Athens, AL 35611) with Pastor Dexter Jackson as eulogist and Pastor Perry Torain officiating. Interment will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. Mr. Nacoste will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home – Mason Chapel.
