Robin Smith Bowers passed away at her residence on September 20 after an extended illness.
Robin was born in Florence, Alabama, on July 17, 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, David Frances Bowers, her parents, Robert Ganum Smith and Doris Whitten Smith, and brother, Robert “Ganum” Smith Jr.
Robin is survived by her brothers, Randall Lawrence Smith and Christopher A. Smith; nephews William Nicholas Smith and Christopher Adam Smith, Jr.; nieces, Kimberly Smith Davis and Courtney Elizabeth Smith; great-nieces; extended family, and many dear friends.
Robin attended Coffee High School, where she was a cheerleader and a member of Nenon and made many lifelong friends.
Robin lived her life in Houston, Texas, where she met David, San Jose, California, and Reno, Nevada. After David’s passing, she moved back to Florence, where she was a devoted caretaker to her mom and sold real estate. She enjoyed rekindling many old friendships and making new ones.
Robin was a devoted member of the Florence Elks Lodge #820 and was a passionate, devoted fan of The University of Alabama and the San Francisco 49ers.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Lyman Mitchell and the staff for their loving care and Affinity Hospice for the excellent care they provided. Additionally, they share heartfelt gratitude to Shannon Sloan Halbert, Robin’s lifelong friend, who was with her from the beginning of her final journey and was there at its conclusion.
A special acknowledgment to the three friends who stayed by her side over the last year, Cameron Pell, Kelley Lawrence and Debbie Green.
Death is an inevitable part of life, a completion of the circle. Rest assured, Robin Dean, we shall meet again.
