Roberta Lenox Bowling/McQuiston

Mrs. McQuiston, 87, passed away on March 18, 2014. Service will be held at New Canaan Baptist Church in Union Hill on Saturday, March 22 at noon with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing. Visitation will be from 10 until noon at the church. Eldridge Crisco and Shane Wheeler will be officiating. Burial will be in New Canaan Baptist Cemetery.

She was born February 7, 1927, to James Lenox and Vernetta Abercrombie Lenox. She was graduated from Union Hill High School, Athens State University, and Alabama A&M University. Mrs. (Bowling) McQuiston was a retired teacher of Morgan County, teaching at Lacey’s Spring and Union Hill elementary schools.

During her life, Mrs. McQuiston was an active member of New Canaan Baptist Church and Pine Ridge Baptist Church. Her loves were Vacation Bible school, Sunday school and Missions.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Glenn L. Bowling and John H. McQuiston and brothers, Matthew Lenox and Albert Lenox.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Caudle (Steve); stepsons, John McQuiston (Donna) and Steve McQuiston (Linda); stepdaughters, Karan Stapler (James) and Sharon Langley; brothers, Herbert Lenox (Joyce), Lester Lenox (Ruby), Joe Lenox (Jackie) and Jimmy Lenox (JoAnn); sisters, Sue Curlee (Bob) and Conda Spyropolous (Chris); two grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff and friends at Country Cottage Assisted Living in Decatur and the staff at NHC in Moulton for their care and comfort.
