Robert Williams, affectionately known to most as “Daddyo,” passed away peacefully at the age of 76, departing this earthly world for his heavenly home early in the morning on September 18, 2024.
Born on September 26, 1947, in Russellville, Alabama but, Daddyo lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. He dedicated 41 years of his life as a conductor for Norfolk Southern, retiring in 2009. He was a faithful member of Gray Rock FCM church. His passion for the outdoors was evident; if he wasn’t at home, you could find him on the water, fishing pole in hand, having mastered the art of locating the best fishing spots. Additionally, he cherished spending time in the woods, reveling in the beauty of God’s creations. Daddyo was known for his generosity, always welcoming family and friends to join him in his favorite pastimes, but it was his grandchildren who held a special place in his heart, often accompanying him on his adventures.
Daddyo was a storyteller at heart, always ready to share a tale or offer kind words. His capacity for love knew no bounds, often giving the shirt off his back to lend a hand to a neighbor in need. He had a unique ability to connect with everyone he met, making them feel welcomed and valued. He never met a stranger and if he didn’t know you, he would by the end of the conversation.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Williams Sr., mother, Lillie Murray, and sister, Beverly Miles. He leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished by his devoted wife of 34 years, Peggy Williams, his sister, Delila Angus, and his two sons, Teddy and Robby Williams. He is also survived by three beloved grandchildren, Dylan Williams, Lily Grace Williams, and Brady Williams, as well as a niece, Felicia Weeks, and a nephew, Chad Johnson, along with a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Pinkard’s Funeral Home in Russellville, AL, at 10 AM for family and 11 AM to 2 PM, followed by a service and burial at Liberty Hill. His warm spirit, generous heart, and unforgettable stories will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Pallbearers will be Robby Williams, Brady Williams, Teddy Williams, Dylan Williams, Greg Williams, Justin Williams, Drake Weeks, Larry Baker
