Robert Wayne McAbee Sr. – Obituary

Robert Wayne McAbee Sr. went to live with his Lord on March 15, 2013, at home with his wife of

37 years by his side. He was born October 12, 1931, to Willie and Hattie McAbee in Morgan County, Alabama.

Visitation will be today at Roselawn Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. with graveside service to follow in the Honor Garden of Roselawn Cemetery. Services are to be conducted by Brother Jackie Kay and David Holmes of Central Park Baptist Church, where Mr. McAbee found and loved his church home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Hattie McAbee; his daughter, Rebecca Ann McAbee; and his only granddaughter, Courtney Nicole McAbee.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and a retiree of Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company, Acacia Life Insurance Company, Bankston Motorhomes, and various other sales positions during his working life. He climaxed his working career by working with Veterans’ Outreach to help veterans in need.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Lynne Sivley McAbee; one son, Robert Wayne McAbee Jr., of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Doris McAbee Frost of Gadsden, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be his eight nephews, Ray Sivley, Neal Sivley, Jason Parham, Robert Parham, Robert Finn, Caleb Finn, Jimmy Letson, and John Cheatham. Honary pallbearers will be great nephews.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Home Health Care personnel and Hospice of the Valley for their gentle and caring concern, help, and care during this trying time for the family.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Hospice of the Valley.
