Robert Van Swearingen, 82, resident of the Etta Community, was welcomed into Gods Kingdom by his wife, Linda Gail, as he transitioned to his Heavenly Home on Monday May 13, 2024, from Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo MS, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Swearingen will be at 11 AM Saturday May 18, 2024, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Etta, MS with Bro. David Grumbach officiating and visitation beginning from 10 AM until Service Time.

Born April 11, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, Mr. Swearingen was the son of the late Bob and Babe Parks Swearingen. He was a graduate of White Station High School and continued his education at Cali State College, receiving his degree in Agriculture. He then married his beloved wife of fifty-one years, the late, Linda Gail Swearingen, where together they lived and raised a family in Union County. Mr. Swearingen was known mostly for his dedication to the Co-Op, as he worked thirty years in sales, before his retirement. Mr. Swearingen was just a busy man, so after retirement he went on to serve as a police officer for the city of Oxford, and a Reserve Deputy for Lafayette County as long as his health allowed.

A Christan and man a very few words, Mr. Swearingen’s favorite pastimes included attending rodeos, showing and riding horses, and outings with his family and friends. He strived to be the best “Pop” to his grandchildren, always spoiling them any chance he had and often taking them to workshops at Lowes and pony rides. Mr. Swearingen was possessed with a loving and caring nature for helping others, and unmatched people skills, which led him to many friendships throughout his life and although our loss is great, we know our God is Greater.

Those left to cherish his memories included two sons, Robert Swearingen (Kelly), and Bailey Swearingen (Michelle), three grandchildren, Buck, Wyatt, and Shay Swearingen, and a host of family and friends.

He is also preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda Gail Swearingen.

We invite you to share memories with the Swearingen Family.
