Robert Stacy Spiller, 70, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Spiller was a native of Phil Campbell, Alabama, but had lived in Georgia for the past 20 years. He was retired from a career in risk management.
The funeral service will be Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at Antioch Baptist Church, Phil Campbell, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Spiller; children, Bob Spiller and wife, Nicole, Sharpsburg, GA, Shane Spiller and wife, Angela, Bowling Green, KY; stepdaughters, Emily Fish, Brentwood, TN, and Shelley Faulkner, Vestavia, AL; brother, Billy Spiller and wife, Christine, Muscle Shoals, AL; sister, Jeanette Golson and husband, Tom, Oak Ridge, TN; grandchildren, John and Sarah Spiller, Atlanta, GA, Jacob and Drew Spiller, Sharpsburg, GA, and Eric and Ashley Spiller, Bowling Green, Ky; many loved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Spiller was preceded in death by parents, Hillard and Nettie Hale Spiller; brothers, Hollis and Stanley Spiller.
Stacy is remembered as a patient, kind man who loved Alabama football and sports. He enjoyed coaching and watching sports with his children and grandchildren. He taught himself to play the piano as a child and spent many hours entertaining his family. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a local library or the American Heart Association.
