Robert Marlin Garrett – Obituary

Robert Marlin Garrett, 77 of Arab, Alabama, the Ruth Community, died Thursday January 19, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital.
Mr. Garrett was born November 4, 1939 in Marshall County to Roy J. Garrett and Ola Adeline Collins Garrett. He worked for Goodyear as a truck driver until his retirement. He and the former Lois Ann Helms were married for 52 years. Mr. Garrett enjoyed reading his Bible, gardening, riding around, RFD T.V. and going out to eat. He loved spending time with this family.
He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife of 52 years: Ann Helms Garrett; his children and in-laws: Rickey and Tracy Garrett, Donna and Randy Wilks and Connie Garrett; his brother and sister-in-law: Dennis and June Garrett and his grandchildren: Brittany Loftis and Cody, Kristin Wilks, Jessica Wilks and Austin Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Ola Garrett; four brothers: Olan Garrett, Dwain Garrett, Doyle Gene Garrett and Thomas Guinn Garrett; two sisters: Evelyn Johnson and Glenda Blackmon.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday January 22, 2017 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Brothers: Radford Pritchett and Scott Campbell, officiating. Burial will be in Oleander Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Zack Cavender, Antino Nin, John Helms, Scott Helms, James Johnson, Clint Blackmon, Lavon Garrett, Gary Wayne Garrett, Jerry Garrett, Lance Garrett, Rodney Garrett and Greg Abercrombie.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Saturday January 21, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
