Robert Manfred Sherrow, age 65, of Athens, AL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 25, 2020 while enjoying one of his favorite pursuits, participating in trading at Dog Days near Ardmore.
Born Manfred Hiller on September 30, 1955, in Giessen, Germany, he was adopted by Nelson Edward and Diana Myers Sherrow and spent his early life in Aberdeen, MD.
He married the love of his life, Melanie Lynne Massey, on September 30, 1978 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. They had just celebrated their 42nd anniversary.
Both of Robert’s adoptive parents predeceased him. Survivors besides his wife include two children: Bonnie Cathrynne Sherrow of Madison, AL and Robert (Jessica) Sherrow of Montevallo, AL; one brother, Klaus Dieter (Linda) Sherrow of Corona, CA; two sisters-in-law, Mikki (Steve) Howard of Lebanon, TN, and Merri Beth Massey of Owens Cross Roads, AL; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.
Robert retired in January 2020 from over 20 years of service with Huntsville City, most as a Traffic Engineer. Robert was a good man, never turning down a request for help from people of all walks of life. He will be missed greatly by family, friends, former co-workers, neighbors and all who benefitted from his good works.
Cremation services were supplied by Spry Funeral Home. Because of Covid, a memorial will be planned at a later date
