Robert M. Hodges, Jr. “June”, 89, of Elkmont, Alabama passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023. “June” was born Tuesday, August, 21, 1934 in Limestone County, Alabama to Robert M. Hodges, Sr. and Nellie Tera Woodfin Hodges.
“June” lived in this area all of his life and was a member of Hollands Gin Church of Christ. He enjoyed his family, fishing, barbequing, hunting, and gardening. He always visited family and friends and everybody that knew him knew he was “A Man of Few Words”. He worked at Steelcase, Inc. where he was known as “Bob” and was the first official retiree from the Athens plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Wynona Ann White Hodges; son, Monte Hodges; and sister, Sarah Louise Hodges Lewter.
He is survived by daughter, Micki (Harold) Woodfin of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Brad Hodges, Allison (Adam) Barnett, and Amanda (David) Maher; great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Eli Hodges, Anna, Emmaline, and Lilly Maher; niece, Beth Lewter, Virginia; and special friend, Nancy Davey, Ardmore, AL.
Services will be Friday, October 27, 2023 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with visitation from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM followed by a Chapel service at 2:00 PM with Bro. Carl Witty officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Ardmore, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Scott Woodfin, Thad Barnett, Adam Barnett, David Maher, Frank Barnett and Nick Woodfin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Hodges and Garon Hargrove.
In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The American Heart Association.
