Robert Kevin Whittington was born July 16, 1974 and departed this life April 24, 2014.
He was a 1992 graduate of McNairy Central High School. He was on the Varsity Football and baseball teams. After High School, Kevin joined the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Parris Island, SC, Camp Lejeune, NC, Camp Pendelton, CA, Twentynine Palms, CA, Okinawa, Japan and Australia. His rank was Corporal and he was a member of Com Company. After the military, Kevin made his home in Jackson, TN where he was a fireman for the Jackson Fire Department. There he met and married Kellie Chadwick Whittington and has two sons Mason Aubrey Whittington, 8 and Brady Chadwick Whittington, 5. Following his career with the fire department he was self-employed as a landscape contractor.
Kevin was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Selmer and Poplar Heights Baptist Church, Jackson.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Annette Whittington; his sons, Mason and Brady Whittington and their mother, Kellie of Medina, TN; an Uncle, Bill Grissom and wife Joan; an Aunt, Janice Newbill and husband Ray; cousins, Joy Grissom, Chris Grissom and wife Kim, Robb Newbill, Russell Newbill and wife Kim, Raymond Newbill and wife Angie.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Margaret Whittington; maternal grandparents, Aubrey and Leona Grissom; and a brother, Brad Whittington.
