Robert Kenneth Edmundson age 88 of Florence passed away Thursday October 31, 2013, after a brief illness. Graveside services will be 2pm Sunday, November 3nd, 2013 at Florence City Cemetery with Rev Rich Hardeman of Forest Hills Baptist Church officiating. Family will welcome friends and visitors from 1:30pm till 2pm at graveside.

Mr. Edmundson was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Doris Howell Edmundson, his parents Rowe B. and Rilla H. Edmundson and his sister Margery Hayes.

Robert was survived by three sons; James Robert Edmundson of Denver, CO, Kenneth Wayne Edmundson and wife Debbie of Memphis, TN, and Richard Stephen Edmundson and wife Sue of Riverside, CA. One daughter Leah Edmundson Perry and husband Michael of Atlanta, GA. Five Grandchildren; Kellie H. Edmundson of Austin, TX, Rachel Freeman and husband Dr. Todd of Sycacauga, AL, Avery Gardner and husband Curtis of Memphis, TN, Claire Perry of Atlanta, GA, and Andrea Edmundson of Riverside, CA. Two Great Grandchildren; William L. Gardner of Memphis, TN and Samuel J. Freeman of Sycacauga, AL.

Mr. Edmundson was born in Athens, Alabama. He graduated from Lauderdale County High School in 1943. In 2012 he was awarded recognition as the oldest living member who had lettered in basketball at LCHS. He was a member for 68 years of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local union 760. He served our Nation in the 9th U.S. Army Air Force, serving in the European Theater of Operation during World War II.

Robert was a charter member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials should be given in his honer to the Forest Hills Baptist Church.
