Robert Ivy Bailey, age 87 passed away February 15, 2015 at his home.
He was born March 11, 1927 in Henderson County, the son of the late Robert Oscar and Lula Veteto Bailey. He married Mary Nell Morris on January 23, 1946 and they made their home in Chester County. Robert worked at Salant & Salant, TN Forestry and farmed for many years. Ivy and Mary Nell and friends and neighbors operated Chester County Saddle Club for many years providing a safe and entertaining place for all their children as well as others. They enjoyed many vacations out west with their children and families.
Mr. Bailey is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Foster Hudson and husband Dwight and Marilyn Lott and (David Smith) and two sons, Larry Don Bailey and Jimmy Darrell Bailey; grandchildren, Jeff, Leslie, Brandon, Blake, Ashley, Justin, Bobbie Jo, Michael, Brandi and Sandi; great grandchildren, Kristina, Emily, Haley, Cody, Sarah, Stetson, Bailey, Breanna, Justin, Jacob, Brittany, Allyson, Chloe, Bailey, Briley, McKinley, Denver, Dylan, Tyler, Hunter, Chelsie, Gage, Bella and Trey; great-great grandchildren, Emma and Drew and two sisters, Inez Johnson and Inell Ross.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Nell Bailey of 67 years and a grandson, Michael and one sister, Izeal Johnson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Dwight Jones and Sammy McAdams officiating and burial will follow in Bailey Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel Saturday 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and after 8:00 AM on Sunday.
There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM on Sunday.
